Mochi

A Japanese New Year's Tradition

First, rice is pounded to a smooth, sticky, glutenous mass.

Then this mass is broken into pieces and rolled into balls, which are sometimes dipped in different sauces or filled with sweet red bean paste. Yummy! I love mochi, and used to buy big bean filled daifuku back in Victoria, but maybe it's an acquired taste because lots of the other foreigners I've met here don't like it...

More Koh Chang

Okay, so we didn't exactly eat Thai food at every meal...but the Italian food here was way better (and way cheaper) than any I've had in Japan.

Mmm...pizza
Anita is sad because she's full and can't eat any more delicious pizza.

Koh Chang: Elephant Island

Christmas Day on Koh Chang

This is me eating the spiciest fish ever (can you see the sweat?). After a while my mouth went numb and I was able to finish it.

And this is a picture of the spicy fish. It's blurry because spiciness of that magnitude cannot be photographed.
